Impressão Tridimensional: uma nova abordagem na área farmacêutica

A abordagem terapêutica personalizada, que busca fornecer tratamentos individualizados para pacientes, surgiu como um novo modelo no tratamento de doenças, em contraposição a terapias genéricas. Tratamentos direcionados ao paciente são possíveis graças aos avanços tecnológicos na produção e administração de medicamentos. Este estudo realiza uma revisão sistemática sobre o estado da arte na manufatura aditiva (impressão 3D). A aprovação do SPRITAM® (levetiracetam) pelo FDA em 2015 como o primeiro medicamento aprovado para manufatura via impressão 3D trouxe um aumento dos estudos mostrando as aplicabilidades da personalização de medicamentos feitos por essa técnica, mas também trazendo as preocupações quanto a este processo. Este estudo aborda as possibilidades e desafios das diferentes técnicas na personalização de medicamentos, e o impacto na profissão do farmacêutico.
